We have spent this week exploring how people celebrate Chinese New Year. We listened to the story of the animals racing across the river and retold it to each other during our play. We tried to write Chinese numbers and wrote our own wishes for the new year. We compared some of the traditions with the ways we celebrated Christmas and linked it with our World Religion Day activities. We explored Chinese food and tasted different dips, prawn crackers and ate noodles using chopsticks. Ask your child what they thought. Our story this week was 'The Runaway Wok' by Ying Chang Compestine. Foundation 2 had a wonderful time at their Christmas Party. They were very excited to have a special visit from Santa and his Elf who even performed a little Christmas Cha Cha! They danced, played party games and ate some very yummy food.
Foundation 2 really enjoyed their Christmas dinner. Thank you to our fabulous kitchen staff for our yummy food and party hats. It was delicious. We had lots of fun performing our Nativity 'The Sleepy Shepherd.' Thank you to all our families for being such a fabulous audience. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. The children in Foundation 2 had lots of fun during the Rudolph Run this morning. They loved wearing their reindeer antlers and noses. Take a look at the photos to see how much fun we had. The children in Foundation 2 have been exploring the work of famous artist, Jackson Pollock. They loved getting messy using the drip technique. Look out for their works of art coming home soon. This week, the children in Foundation 2 have been enjoying the story 'Can't you sleep little bear?' by Martyn Waddell.
We have been finding out about light and dark. We have sorted animals into nocturnal and diurnal. We wonder if your child can tell you what they have learned? The children loved coming to school in their pyjamas and Pudsey clothes today. Thank you for your kind donations to support the valuable work of Children in Need. This week, the children have been finding out about Remembrance Day. We watched the Poppies film on CBeebies and made our own poppies.
